Our story
A Fan institution since 1999
Chris DiLauro and Nancy Fisher opened Bacchus in 1999, in a classic shotgun building on the corner of Main and Meadow in the Fan. They wanted the kind of place they’d loved in New York — cozy, intimate, the sort of room where the staff knows your face and your usual order.

More than twenty-five years later, that’s still the whole idea. The food is classic Italian, built on recipes Chris learned from his mother, Rita — starting with her marinara. Much of what’s on the menu has been there for years, because regulars won’t let it leave. The chicken piccata isn’t going anywhere.
